Nintendo announced additional content for Super Smash Bros today in the Nintendo Direct featured below.  Highlights include the introduction of Ryu and Roy of Street Fighter and Fire Emblem fame as well as a ton of Mii fighter costumes for Mega Man,Splatoon, Animal Crossing, Tekken, and Virtua Fighter franchises.

Generally there is a feeling they are trying to fill out the game with a variety of content and price points. Ryun is very clearly the premium fighter as they put tons of resources into the character with being able to do the Street Fighter moves along with the Smash moves. Meanwhile the Mii costume characters are much cheaper for more varied content.  Its a great strategy.  Plus more amiibos to track on eBay! See the Video below for the full story
