I don’t have time for your illusions: The Sony E3 Press conference

PS4E32015

Sony’s e3 press conference has me incredibly torn.  They announced some incredible games and their VR product looks like a leader.  But if you are hoping for something this year, I hope you like HD remakes.

Last Guardian shocked by leading off the show after not being seen for several years. It looked a lot like the last time it was seen, which means freaking awesome.  The designs on the guardian are still appealing as he’s adorable with the giant kitten eyes and puppy bird looks. But how many redesigns has the game mechanics gone through? What happened to cause the gam to evaporate?  A long layoff is generally never good (See Duke Nukem Forever, Daikatana, Battlecruiser 3000) I want to believe, but man…

Next was Guerilla Games New IP Horizon: Zero Dawn.  Set in the future following the fall of man the countryside is full of machines acting like animals.  While it missed The Year of the Bow last year its still a neat mechanic and looks lovely as Guerilla is able to do.  However, Killzone was never as good as COD, Halo, Resistance, Gears so there is still some doubt on how good Guerilla is.  Still it looked great and I wanna believe, but…

By the time I got to the Final Fantasy 7 Remake and the presentation for a kickstarter for Shenmue I was dissapointed.  Sony seems like it cant get organized to get things to ship in 2015. There are only a handful of exclusives and most of those are remakes.  Ive always had a hard time getting excited for Sony but this year was tough.

Though Uncharted is still my jam. Next year.
